Box Sleeve

Cartonboard is a paper-based packaging material made from either virgin wood pulp or recycled paper. It’s commonly used in box sleeves, cards and other lightweight packaging. Whilst cartonboard is made from the same materials as cardboard, cartonboard isn’t corrugated. This means it isn’t as durable in transit but is more versatile and much better for printing on. This is why it’s often used for retail and customer-facing packaging.

Box sleeves are printed sheets of cartonboard that easily wrap around mailer boxes or product boxes, instantly adding colour to your packaging. This is ideal for retail and e-commerce packaging across a range of industries, from fashion and cosmetics to food. As box sleeves are made from lightweight cartonboard, they’re also cost-effective, versatile and great for printing on.

First, you need the exact dimensions of your mailer box, product box or other packaging. You can easily find these as you customise packaging using the Sourceful platform.

Next, you need to decide the length of your box sleeve. Usually, this will be full-length (which will cover all of your packaging), 3/4 length (most common) or 1/3 length (most cost-effective). You can also choose a custom length. Remember that full-length box sleeves will be the most expensive as they use the most material.

The height and width of your sleeve should then be the same as the external dimensions of your box. This will ensure a snug fit and the best presentation.

For domestic orders manufactured in the UK we align supplier quality control processes with our own, performing spot checks on the supplier’s products from each lot throughout the year.
